aphasia rehabilitation, health disparities, systems of oppression in the field of Communication Sciences and Disorders (CSD) and academic program strengthening in the rehabilitation sciences in low- and middle-income countries.

Dr. Kendall joined the Speech and Hearing Sciences Department in 2008, and she became Professor Emerita in 2022. Her research platform focused on rehabilitation of language disorders following stroke and in particular, understanding the theoretical relationship between phonology and word retrieval deficits, and she is interested in mechanisms driving health disparities in the rehabilitation sciences. Dr. Kendall developed Phonomotor Treatment (PMT) for rehabilitation of anomia in aphasia and the Standardized Assessment of Phonology in Aphasia (SAPA).
